Saintly Stories and Flavors

Saints seem to have lived in their own worlds—but they still had to eat!  Join us for an evening and a day of sharing food with some of the saints.  (Please be aware that we’ll try to accommodate allergies and sensitivities in our recipes)

On Friday evening, we will have the Panforte Di Siena of St. Catherine of Siena and hear about her life and time.  Saturday noon, our appetizers will include the Salad of Saint Hildegard of Bingen and the Cheddar Scones of St. Anselm of Canterbury.  The main dish will be the Umbrian Style Pollo and Salsicca Arrosto of St. Francis of Assisi with side dishes of Carpenter Tomatoes of St. Joseph and Colcannon of St. Brigid of Ireland.  The meal will end on a flourish with the Flan de Naranja of St. Dominic and Abba’s Cup roasted coffees of our own Jeff Koch.

Summer Retreat

Step out of the rush of daily life and into a gentle rhythm of stillness. From June 21–27, 2026, Heartland Center for Spirituality welcomes you to a retreat with Joye Gros, OP, and Theresa Tuite, OP—an invitation to breathe deeply, listen inwardly, and rediscover the sacred woven through every moment.

In a world that pulls us in countless directions, this retreat offers a sanctuary of calm where silence becomes a teacher and the heart finds room to rest. As you pause, reflect, and open yourself to the Holy, you may begin to sense the quiet truth at the center of it all: when we embrace the sacred, the sacred tenderly embraces us.

Mystery at the Motherhouse

A Downton Abbey Whodunit

Step into the Grantham estate, where polished manners and perfect etiquette do their best to hide the deliciously messy secrets simmering beneath the surface. The Crawleys, their staff, and a lively cast of townsfolk are gathering for what should be a perfectly proper evening—though we both know how quickly propriety can unravel. Whether you mingle boldly or lurk charmingly in the background, you may find yourself swept into a mystery no one planned for. Join us July 18 for an evening of mischief, intrigue, and delightfully unexpected turns at the Grantham estate.
